Uncle Otto thoroughly resonates with any African American whose family migrated from the rural South to the urban North during the twenties and thirties.

It is a fictional and vivid accounting of the life and times, which rings true. The characters are real; their stories, sometimes intriguing, but always entertaining. It is a must read for anyone wanting to get a feel of the culture and circumstances of citified blacks during and post World War ll.

Winfred, thank you again for coming to our Book Club last month. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet you and have you talk to us! It brought your novel even more to life. I have taken the copies you signed for me back to my friends in Florida and encouraged them to choose your book for one of their book club selections. I have also passed a copy along to my friend who owns an independent bookstore in Tampa. I hope it will start circulating on the East Coast.

Thank you, too for the opportunity of meeting Uncle Otto. I thoroughly enjoyed your Uncle Otto!!!

Our Book Club recently read the book Uncle Otto. This is a must read. It was one of those books that I had a hard time putting down. The author has a special way of making the characters come alive, and of pulling the reader into the story.

Uncle Otto is a fantastic read! The way the book was written is so intriguing. It draws you into each character and you care what happens to them. I also loved the period changes throughout the book. You could really get a sense of what it was like to live at that time. Mr. Cook is not only a great writer but is also an awesome story teller. I cannot wait to read his next book(s).
